A man was discovered dead on Wednesday in a Reykjavik steam room. The body had been there since the day before.
The man died suddenly while in a steam room at Reykjavik’s World Class gym complex. according to capital region police. A preliminary autopsy has already been carried out; the results of which show that the man died a long while before his body was discovered. The results also lead police to believe the circumstances around the death are not suspicious.
The body stayed in the steam room overnight at the gym. World Class closes its doors at 23.30 at night and opens again at 06.00.
Reykjavik police chief Fridrik Smari Bjorgvinsson told DV that the fact that the body was not found straight away does not affect the case directly and is not immediately suspicious.
The police have not revealed the man’s name or age.
